Goldeneye <\/span>Chrysoperla<\/span> carnea<\/span> is <\/span>an effective, safe and sustainable Class 3 biological plant protection product with proven efficacy in greenhouses, gardens and fields, compatible with <\/span>Trichogramma spp., Aphidius spp., Orius spp. <\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>

Goldfinch larvae are very efficient predators and eat <\/span>aphids, webworms, Colorado potato beetle eggs, whiteflies, thrips, eggs laid by lepidopteran pests, tiny mites, leafhoppers, scales, cicadas, bats.<\/span> Adult insects feed on pollen, nectar and honeydew.<\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>

Goldfinch larvae are characterised by high efficiency:<\/span> <\/span><\/p>

  • Reduces aphid populations by 80-90% (distribution 50-100 larvae\/m\u00b2);<\/span> <\/span><\/li><\/ul>
    • up to 80% reduction in white fleas;<\/span> <\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div>
      • rapid response to pest outbreaks;<\/span> <\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div>
        • high mobility and predation activity.<\/span> <\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div>

          Adult Goldfinches are about 1.5 cm long with a greenish-yellow body, thin wings with a bluish or greenish tinge, and a rainbow-like appearance in sunlight. Their eyes are golden, hence the species name. In Latvia, goldfinches can often be seen in window and door cracks, where they overwinter. An adult female lays between 400 and 600 eggs in 1-2 months, one on a long stalk attached to the underside of a plant leaf. The egg hatches into a caterpillar with strongly developed jaws, which is very aggressive and hungry. One larva can eat up to 400 aphids, 2 000 reticera and 300 Colorado potato beetle eggs in 14 days. The larva then pupates, turns into an adult after about a week, and after 5-10 days the adult goldeneye starts to reproduce. 5-7 generations develop in one season. <\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div>

          The right conditions for development:<\/span> <\/span>temperature<\/span> 1<\/span>8<\/span>-30\u00b0C, <\/span>humidity <\/span>>60%<\/span>, pest-free.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p><\/div>

          Undesirable conditions for development:<\/span> temperature <<\/span>5\u00b0C,<\/span> no pests and no food, <\/span> avoid <\/span>contact insecticides<\/span> use 5 days before <\/span>goldfinch<\/span> 5 days before introducing goldfinches into the garden.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>
